Lower gas prices could mean more holiday travelers

gainsvilleTimes -- If there was ever a sign to take a vacation, this might be it — gas prices have fallen just in time for the holiday weekend.

“I would expect that the slow decline we’ve seen in the last few weeks will continue through Memorial Day and perhaps longer,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com. “I would think that for much of the summer average gas prices in Georgia would be between $3.25 and $3.75.”

National gas prices have been dropping since a $3.93 peak in early April, according to AAA’s Historical Fuel Gauge Report.

Average prices in Georgia are 7 cents lower than a week ago and 38 cents lower than the same time last year.

The well-timed drop in prices could mean more people will be hitting the road this weekend.

no plans to travel. Haven't gone anywhere in the past six or eight years. Not b/c of fuel prices, but not interested in going places on a holiday weekend when they let all the iD-10-T drivers out.

Lower gas prices? Gas prices are still way too high! I'll have to wait for the price to come down much more before any traveling can happen.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible!
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Fuel cost may have gone down temporarily, but goods and services have yet to follow. This economy is slow to react thereby creating an environment that is difficult for some to enjoy the summer.

Lower prices for one holiday will not interfere with record profits.

Gas prices didn't drop that much...only a few cents. When it drops to $1.30/gallon....then we'll have more travelers!
