Baltimore gas station thefts net hundreds of gallons of fuel

The Baltimore Sun -- A theft this month of 311 gallons of gasoline from a station in Baltimore is one in a series of similar incidents, according to the station's owner, who says people have been disabling pumps and allowing friends and relatives to fill their tanks for free

Mehdi Rezakhan, who owns BP stations in Remington and East Baltimore, said each businesses has been hit once, and stations owned by friends have been taken several times, one for 1,800 gallons of gasoline.

On Saturday, city police could confirm only one theft at Rezakhan's BP station in Remington, which occurred either May 6 or May 7. Police reported no suspects and said they had no idea how the thieves stole such large amounts of gasoline.

But Rezakhan, 35, said he suspected someone with knowledge of pumps was using a hammer ...

But, multiple incidents? The owner should have installed security cameras a long time ago. I don't know of any stations in my area that DON'T have them.

Must be at a big station with lots of pumps and the attendants not paying much attention. “Pay at the pump” is partly responsible; without that feature a person pumping gas and then driving away would draw a lot of attention.

So someone busted the lock off then reached inside & pulled a pin to the counter. Yet no one saw this done or heard the noise. Also he says it's been going on for awhile At multiple sites. Yet, If they aren't all 24 hr. Stations no one is checking the pumps each day they open to see if the locks are missing or broken. Right, are they sure these alleged thefts aren't covered by Insurance and he's trying to pull Insurance fraud. Maybe it's true but sure sounds fishy to me for the reasons above. Crude oil is dropping like a rock, yet the stations keep jacking up the price. Some unscrupulous "customers" are bound to find a way to rip off the stations in retribution. Pump prices should be around $1.79. If Obama and his gang would allow Americans to be Americans instead of tying the hands of otherwise inventive people, we could have plenty of oil from North Dakota or the Keystone pipeline.
