In most cases, it will be a combination of all the factors.

Isn't the type of tire (all season, summer, winter) a spec? So first is spec then price.

When I purchase tires. The sop not only has coffe, water and a popcorn machine. I have always been satisfied with the wuality and prices that I can afford. Most importantly I can always get fast tire check and air at any givin time because I purchased them there. extremely nice people.

I always go by the Specifications. I think it is important because I want to know that the tire is good for grip, and handling. Then I'll look at the price to make sure it is worth what the specs are.

A brand name tire sometimes is not always the best value. I had some that came with my car that didn't get but 13,000 miles on them and tread was gone and were expensive.

True story: Last spring I shopped for new tires. Starting with Brand/Specs and then pushing for best price. Surprisingly, the price was lowered quite a bit for some "great work car tires". "How can 'Joe Blow off the street' get such a great price just for asking," I wondered? I asked to see these tires and upon inspection... found the serial numbers ground off! The tires seemed old and hard as if they had been sitting in a warehouse for several years. NO THANKS!!! Buyer beware!!!

I'm torn between saying specs. and brand because (as far as I know) only B.F. Goodrich makes a triple ply side wall time for off-road.

I voted "specs" but it's really a combination of factors that determines which tires I buy. Brand is pretty much at the bottom of my list because it seems every manufacturer offers great tires and not so good tires.

I read reviews on what I'm looking for, and take them into consideration.
reviews are not always accurate or honest, but like I said, I do take them into consideration. The only brands I have bought as replacement tires for original equipment tires have been Goodyears in the past, and now Michelin.
