One thing is clear -- the lower prices go, the less there will be in the future. Capitalism or market strategies at work - less demand, less production! There is no political "oil" solution to this, only the political will to do with less and/or with alternatives.
Drilling the US now will leave even less oil for our children and grandchildren. It will not happen (market mechanisms at work!) if prices go too low!
The best personal solution is using as little as possible, regardless of price!

Although too high, it is better to have $100/month to spend for something else we could not afford without.

I don't have a job right now so every drop of gas counts. I usually try to run all my errands at one time but I have always done that. I would hope to find work soon so I can get back home to see my family of which I haven't seen in about 4yrs.

Yes, it definitely has. My family has a Honda Civic Sedan, 36 MPG hwy. And that's gas-saving in the first point! Plus, gas prices are going down, and that takes the financial burden off.

When gas was ridiculously high I stopped driving as much. And now that gas is just stupidly high, I find myself now in the habit of still walking more. I have lost weight and since I have to carry my groceries I buy less. I drive more getting the current prices at the stations in my town for this site which seems a bit silly but I deal with it.

No, still have to drive the same amount of regular driving. If it had only happenned during the summer months, it would have been positive.

Gas prices have fallen drastically the last couple of weeks, but Diesel is still overpriced. Last summer (2007), I was paying less for Diesel than regular gas. At $1.96, I think gas has bottomed out.

by the way even if gas continues to drop we must keep scaling back to fight these money hungry bastards like at exxon-mobil. i heard they reported a 15billion dollar profit this week. who knows when will gas will go up again, but furthermore, we cannot stop finding new ways of finding new and cleaner sources of energy because the price drop is almost a guarantee its almost temporary.

I agree with the boycott idea someone posted earlier. It's impractical unfortunately because of all city, county and state vehicles that use gas and diesel. Then there are city and transit busses, trains, 18 wheelers, etc. Don't think my one puny car can make a dent in that........

I have been riding the bus and train more often now but it still isn't enough that the price is around $2.09 in the Dallas area. Milk at the grocer is still 5 dollars. Each day is a struggle.

Though gas prices are falling the effect has yet to ripple throuhout the economy. It nay take a little while for this to happen. Though I don't see why it is dragging so far behind. When crude jumpedon a almost daily bases so did fuel and other items. But I would assume the profit takers out there are not completely satisfied yet. As Americans do it may be time to boycott other items where possible. Just an idea. As a American product consumer let corporate America that we are powerful when it comes to boycotting. Thanks Flyword

When the people blindly seek change
In 1917..they got the Russian Revolution..and Stalin.. In 1933..they got the Nazis and Hitler In 1957..they got Fidel Castro.. In 1979..they got the Islamic Revolution and Ayatollah Khamenei
People should be careful what they ask for. __________________ Change is not always progress Having the right to do something, doesn't always make it the right thing to do.

I think the high gas prices caused a lot of people to make a lot of changes. I carpool now and don't plan to stop. I just hope people remember that decreased demand has a lot to do with it and don't return to their old ways. Of course, the speculators have moved on to greener pastures, still waiting to see what they choose next...

To go a little farther; what's up with kwikfill? These jerks are advertising "American made and refined gas" if they don't have the overhead that the towelheads have why the heck are they charging Americans the same as everyone else? I myself refuse to buy KWIKFILL. They are the worst in my books. I can see the foreign companies sticking it to us. But they are doing it to their own. Screw them!!
