Driving a brand new box truck up in Michigan I swerved to avoid a buck and barrely missed it. When I got to my destination I looked on the right side of the box and there was about a two foot scrape toward the back. So I missed it but not by much. Hope its rack was okay.

I think the deer should cross roads where the deer crossing signs are.

No large animal like that except for people pushing their cart full of bottles and cans at the side of the road

Lots of weird instances but no mishaps with deers, whitetails, moose (both sexes), timber wolves, horse, cow, sheep (Libya), camels (Tripoli), and elephants(Bombay)encounters. I sadly squished an armadillo in Texas and just too many bugs of all types. But I did inadvertantly mow a few grass snakes.

Came within inches of taking out a coyote(baby) while driving just after sunrise, had to hit the brakes hard. Thank goodness no one was behind me.

I won, but the deer made me pay a price.
Try hitting a cow, that gets your attention.

On the 8th of May in 2010, a deer jumped into my chest as I rode my motorcycle at 80 km/h down a rural highway in North Western Ontario. In the sidecar was my three year old dog Turbo. I was thrown off my bike and suffered a broken shoulder, broken hip, broken ankle, and a collapsed lung. After two emergency helicopter trips I was put back together.
The motorcycle, a Russian Ural, flipped over twice and landed on its wheels thanks to its sidecar. Bent one mirror, broke all the lights and mirrors, but I repaired it. Turbo survived with a scraped eyebrow and a torn dewclaw. He still loves riding on the motorcycle.
Now I'm entering my third year of recovery and will be receiving on the 17th of October an artificial hip joint out of ceramic.

I once nearly hit a deer at night. The deer crossed the road without me hitting it, but barely. Being at night, the only thing I saw was the image of the deer caught by the headlights. The image left an after image on my retinas & it seemed that I passed right through a ghost deer.
During a day trip on a back country road while passing over a small bridge, I looked to the right to see if any wildlife was along the creek. However, a black bear ran right in front of the car and I also barely missed hitting him.

I live where deer are, but never any encounters of hitting/killing one.
I did hit a dog that was on the freeway many years ago. I called the cops and the animal control people came out. The guy asked me some questions and said they wanted to know the end result of the animal (found its owner, treated it or put it down). I said I do not want to know because I already feel bad enough that it was on the freeway and that I hit it. I think it was previously hit because it was on the white shoulder line and I didnt see it till I was right there. It did a little ding to the front right fender panel. I never got it fixed because its barely noticeable.
Other than the dog, no encounters.

I've hit two deer and swerved to miss many more. First deer I hit actually hit me and broke two legs. No damage to the car. Hunter was nearby and shot it to kill it. Second deer hit square. Killed it instantly and did over $2000 damage to the car.

Killed an 8-pointer with my motorcycle. I didn't go down, used my dirt-bike riding techniques to stay upright whilst running off the road. Deer took out the headlight, radiator, engine guard, hit my left leg. I won that altercation.

Fortunately, I've only ever seen a deer or other large animal off to the side of the road. Some alive, most were dead.

I was in the country and had to brake to avoid hitting a large bull and a baby pig who walked out of a corn field together. Not even kidding. Thank goodness I had my camera, no one would have believed me. I took photos and posted them on my fb page just to prove I wasn't lying. Very unusual and scary as I waited at least 15 minutes for him to move. Did not dare get out of vehicle or try to shoo him. He was determined to stay in the middle of the road until he was ready to move on.

ə i have had numerous encounters with deer. the worst was 03/28/1992 while driving eastbound on i-80 around mile marker 199 when one of the dreadful creatures came out of the median and jumped in front of me. i was going about 65mph at the time, and driving on the inside lane figuring i would be safer there. i was able to drive to the next exit (201) and call for a tow, but that was as far as i could get as the front end had been pushed in and the alternator would not turn. i got towed home, and was in the market for another vehicle as that one was declared officially totaled. the worst since then was in 2008 on mn-7 just west of cosmos. i was able to continue driving, but the fill tube for the radiator had been broken, and eventually that killed the engine. i wish deer could stay on one side of the highway or the other! they are truly one of the worst menaces we have to face. ə

I had nearly come to a stop while swerving into the other lane. The deer ran into my car at the door/front fender. His head hit my lower right windshield. I looked him in the eyes and then ran off.

My ex-wife hit a deer driving 60 miles an hour. Hit the deer in his rear end. His head swung around and his head and antlers smashed into the rear passenger door where my 8 year old daughter was sitting. The front of the car was smashed and we had to pull the grill out of the fan. The rear passenger door was caved in but lucky the glass didn't brake. I replaced the door and the hood and grill, the car was like new again
