As we have 2 vehicles I plan to drive the more fuel efficient car more often in spite of losing the comfort & other perks of our SUV.

We moved closer to our jobs last year, overall "to work" driving has been cut 90%. Motorcylces aid cutting 4 wheel vehicle use considerably from Spring - Fall. Also no more 1,400 mile vacation trips since 2005.

Just traded in our 2010 Honda Pilot for a 2012 Honda Insight Hybrid. Bought the Pilot new in Nov of 09 and it served us well BUT after 33K and an average MPG of 23.2 and fuel prices over $3 a gallon it was time to make the switch to a hybrid. Don't pay attention to CR's review of the Insight....they did it in 2010 and Honda has really improved on the car. We are fortunate that we can purchase new vehicles and by purchasing a hybrid we will be saving substantially on fuel which will offset the cost of the car.

We have already combined our efforts, we write down what we need and wait till we have a list worth driving for. Along with watching Gas Buddy to decide where to buy our fuel!

I am trying auto sharing with Autoshare. All-in-one fee covers vehicle, insurance, gas and parking. So far so good. I refuse to support the auto insurance industry. Autosharing is far better for our planet and wallets too! Learning curve and change of habits but well worth it. Try it you might like it. Better than renting. Far cheaper than owning. All types of vehicles. Can build an insurance record. I do not drive frequently enough to justify the capital costs of a new car anymore. The status quo does not work. I am glad I made the switch to Autoshare.

When I completed this survey on Monday, I checked "Get a more efficient vehicle" and by gosh, I went out Thursday and bought one. So that takes care of my resolutions for the year. Sure more fun than losing weight, quitting smoking and all that other neat stuff that people resolve to do.

My current car, Olds Intrigue, is 13 years old. Actually fairly good mileage for when bought and age - 16 local, 26 on highways. Plan to buy a new car this year and hoping to get a Hybrid

I intend to buy a car that's not going to "guzzle" the gas as much as the one I'm driving. I wish it could be a new car that's fuel effecient, but I cannot afford a car payment!

I've already cut back because the cost of gas is burning up all my money and because we are burning food for fuel the cost at the grocery stores have gone up. At the rate we are going we'll be out there chewing the bark off of trees to survive.

I've been combining errands, driving gently & efficiently, avoiding idling, etc. for years. Don't have a very fuel-efficient vehicle... but I love my truck! The one thing I plan to do this year to save on fuel is to drive less & ride my motorcycle more.

None of the above. I've been combining errands all my life (with today's hectic schedules, who doesn't?!), driving more efficiently, avoiding idling and have run a car that gets about 47 MPG since the year 2000.
There's public transport here but even if it stopped at the end of my street (which it goes by, but doesn't stop) it only runs twice a day so that is a non-starter.
And since I live on a major five lane highway with no sidewalks, walking/biking is DEFINITELY out!
