When driving a cruiser, this policy is unconscionable!

I think the police department should have a policy (if they do not already) specifying what is appropriate behavior.

Make them start driving their personal vehicles to work and home if they are going to go to the bar after work.

Great double standard. Everyone, regardless of job, should get cited for driving after drinking.

Don't know all the details. But it is crazy to have 2 sets of laws: one of the cops and one for everyone else!?!

Nice personnel policy. Try that in the private sector. Oh yeah, governments don't need to worry about covering the cost of lawsuits...

It clearly states in the article that the police officer is bound by the same rules as the rest of us: the 0.08% BAL

See it more and more politicians, rich people, people in public service jobs are all allowed to get away with things none of the rest of us can.

Old news PD. Still wrong to drink any amount and then drive. There is some impairment after drink #1. Cops need to set a better example, especially while in their official city vehicles.

As you can see, cops get away with many thing the average person would end up in jail for.

Cops consider themselves above the laws. It's hard enough to get one charged with murder much less a traffic offense in his own jurisdiction.

It's scary, but I'm not at all surprised. Most of the police I've encountered feel they are above the law and exhibit behaviors proving it quite frequently.

This artical is really funny, because I more or less seen the same thing when I was younger when I worked in a gas station. This police officer pulled in for gas with his private car to gas up still in uniform minus is weapon got out of the car where he placed his gear open a cooler took out a beer, even asked if I wanted one. Got back in the car paid for the gas opened the bottle and drove off drinking openly. It seem they feel they are protected because a fellow brother would neither stop them or cite and report them whether it be in their town or not

I had 28 years of law enforcement and we never took the squads home. (City of Green Bay). We went to the station for row call and area assignment. It was up to the supervisors to make sure you were N/A sober before hitting the streets. If not you were sent home and docked a days wages. The union agreed to this action. I didn't want an 'under the influence' officer backing me up nor did any one else.
