already do all over the world
Obama backers have to understand at some point we run on energy
unless they like the employment number where it is and notice I say employment because on this path we'll have unemployment at 2% (becaue everybody will fall off the rolls) while the number of working remains stagnant...

Much better we sell to the US than to Asia. China owns too much of North America and we need to return some of that offshore manufacturing to right here.

So many fools posting about US oil/energy independence by buying oil from Canada... in other words: being dependent upon another country for their oil independence. Sheesh!

The PM of Canada is an idiot. He already threatened the US saying they would sell to China if the pipeline wasn't built. What a neighbor!

kusanagisama - In reply to your statement of Obama rejecting the pipeline...
Our President did not reject the XL pipeline! There were environmental issues that weren't worked out. HE said he would sign if there were no issues. He can't override state's rights and shouldn't. If that were allowed you would call him a dictator. Nebraska had issues about the route through the aquifer. There is a lot of politics played over the pipeline by the Republicans, also by Canada XL playing the card its for America's good and will create jobs! There will not be few jobs for Americans. The pipe will be made in India and shipped here. If it were made here it could create jobs for America.

The Keystone pipeline, with some alternate routing, will be built long before a pipeline through the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Kusanagisama Do you REALLYbelieve that your President does not want the best for his country? You may not agree with his decisions and those of his advisors, but the President does what he thinks is in the interest of the country. If he was acting against the country's interest, his Cabinet would act to unseat him or do you believe they are all in a conspiracy.

Cardjcsk The oil belongs to Alberta not Canada. Alberta does not care where the oil goes as long as it is for the best price.

Obama knew exactly what he was doing when he denied the pipeline. He wants China to have the oil and doesn't want the US to be energy independent.

Firstly, Canada would sell oil to China regardless of Keystone and will sell to the US as well regardless of Keystone. Much of the oil sands investment comes from china and the US. The oil will go to the highest bidder the same as everywhere else and that world market includes India, Korea and Japan.

More arm twisting. China has the money, our money and money talks. They could build refineries here too if they thought it would bring them something in return. Eastern Canada needs the oil but have no pipeline. Pipelines then could be built to the USA to the refineries that are in Pennsylvania that aren't making money buying expensive crude.
Now, what's with the pop up adds on Gas Buddy telling Obama to drill now?
We have more drilling today than anytime under George Bush.

It is much less costly to get the oil from Canada than the Middle East, but politics is keeping common sense from being used
