It's just a timing issue. She's not earning more points, she's just earning them early. And when viewing the site from the west side of midnight, the tally includes both "today" points and "tomorrow" points.
As for being paranoid about earning points each day -- my recommendation is not to take it too seriously; real life should come before GasBuddy. (And by not taking it too seriously, it won't be so traumatic when you do eventually miss a day and reset.)

First, how do you accrue more than 100 points for forum posts and 125 points for reading news articles in your home area, or any area for that matter. I thought that those were the limits imposed on earning points for anything other than posting prices [also not counting poll answers or friend referrals].
Second, are you actually accruing even more points by logging into another locality to read additional news articles and make forum posts there, so that you are accumulating a total of 375 news points and 300 forum post points every day? If so, I was not aware that this was possible, and it shouldn't be.

Well from what I've seen you've had to be on gas buddies for around ten years to have any sizeable points.
At the top of the page where it shows your login name, to the right of that is points leaders.

Thanks for all the congrats! Sorry I am late, but I do not check this topic category too much.
All I have to say what I have achieved is nothing compared to those who have hundreds and even thousands of consecutive days so I feel kind of guilty for being congratulated.
I guess the key thing is to try to contribute even when you're on vacation or traveling or when the wifi/ISP is down. And I was hospitalized for a week last year without internet access--that can happen to anybody. I suspect a lot of good people have their streaks ended for these reasons.
On a related note, I am so paranoid now about the consecutive days, that I am logging in at 8 PM Pacific Time to Newfoundland Gas Prices to contribute (post and read articles) so I earn points. That is just the consecutive days leader list, not the overall or 30 day list. Too many lists.

You're really close now, Mileena. You're at 127 days, and the bottom of the list has dropped to 129 days.

You’re gaining on it Mileena. You’ve gone from 116 to 125 CDs and the bottom of the list has only moved by one place to 131. Getting close.
Ummm, right; BB is a Mod so I should use lower case bb as shorthand for bytebug.

Mileena, unless your travels take you to new areas all the time so that you do not see the same stations, I urge you to create at least one FSL, perhaps several. It takes a bit of time to set up but, once done, a lot of prices can be entered in just a few minutes. I have a default FSL for my local stations and 5 others for areas that I visit frequently. With a little more time you can edit your FSL so the stations are listed in the order you pass by them on a normal drive, which makes entry even easier.
Secondly, if you are finding address errors in GB listings, please make corrections in the Master Station List. That too is easy to do and it will help everyone else make correct entries. Of course, the first step is to be certain that you have the correct address and other information before making MSL changes.
Finally, thanks for the advice, BB; don’t know what the Mods would do without you.

Ok, I might have exagerrated a little. :) But it did take me a long time, like 20 minutes. You have to look up the address if you didn't get it when you got the prices, and sometimes the wrong address or station is listed on gasbuddy. Also, sometimes you don't know the city and this is wrong sometimes too no gasbuddy. I used to post 60-70 prices a day. I drive a lot in different areas each day, so I collect a lot of prices.
I just click the "Report Gas Prices" tab to report.

Another question might be:
Just how many prices are/were you posting a day?

mileena, Are you're updating the prices through a search? There is a box that you can check to add the station to your favorite stations list (FSL) (like a bookmark) then you will only have to scroll down on the home page to enter your prices.
Even using dial-up it will usually take less than 5 minutes to enter numerous prices.

It takes you an hour to input prices? How are you doing this? Are you using an FSL or the map?

Thanks Brindfan and dirt girl. I really like this site, although I will admit I do not write down as many gas prices as when I first started. When it got to the point it was taking me an hour to post everything here, I slowed down. LOL.

That would be my guess too.
I'm currently at 119 days. I fell off the list when I was up around 1500 consecutive days.

Not a problem.
I'm guessing that if you keep your consecutive days going, you should be in the top 4000 by the end of April at the latest.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I plan to keep working hard to keep this a great site. I write down prices throughout the day as I drive past gas stations and then post them. I know I will eventually make it. Sorry for whining in my first post.

Just keep posting every day. You will eventually make it. If you look at the bottom of the list, there are several people who have the same amount of consecutive days. As days go by, the amount of people with the same amount of cons. days will thin out. When I finally made the list, there were 15 other people who had the same amount of consecutive days. Now I am the only one currently at 357 consecutive days.

When the consecutive-days list was started it was one page (1000 names) and everyone with speed lines (90 days) was on it. Two years ago it took 460 days to make the list. Shortly after that the list was extended to 4 pages, at which time it took only 27 days to make the list at #4000. It now takes 595 days to get on page 1 (#1000) and 130 days for #4000. So it took almost two years for the cutoff to rise by 103 days.
Relax Mileena202 and just keep posting. You now have 115 CDs. There are over 4000 members ahead of you and several of them miss a day and drop off the list almost every day. You will make it soon.

As noted, some of those people will drop off and start over. I'm currently in the 200s, but I fully expect to reset to zero the next time I take a multi-day vacation, since I don't own a laptop or a smartphone.
Gas_Buddy writes, > is the "Number of Consecutive Days Earning Points" listing really that important?
Not to me. I'm happy to accumulate it when I can, but I deliberately avoid assigning too much importance to it, lest it be traumatic when I do eventually fall off.

mileena202, Keep posting, it is possible to swim against the current. More than one senior member has forgotten to post in the past and with holiday weekends coming up, it's easier to move up a spot or two. :)

Maybe I should have asked, is the "Number of Consecutive Days Earning Points" listing really that important?
I know that there are members that have gone for years without interruption, not taking a day away from their computer (and now, with the phone applications and the increased use of tablets such as the iPad and the Galaxy, there's less reason for not being able to participate in at least one of the "points" activities that keeps the "streak" going.
But do you really look at the "Number of Consecutive Days Earning Points" list to see where you are? Or look at any of the points statistics lists? Is it really that important to "get on the board"? Especially because you're posting anonymously, with a made up screen name, is it rally that important to "get on the board"?

If it wasn't hard to make the list, it wouldn't be much of an accomplishment, would it?
My Consecutive Day rank is currently 1131.

The "Number of Consecutive Days Earning Points" listing is limited to the top 3,000 members, all of whom have posted for at least 130 days. As long as those members (and the ones immediately below 130 days) continue to post on consecutive days, the number of consecutive days will increase.
I'm not sure how this is unfair to "new members like me", or how you can claim "...so I am not on it, although I should be."
The list is limited to 4,000 members' names. They will remain on the list - said another way - the names on the list won't change - and the number of consecutive days they've posted will continue to increase until they stop posting on consecutive days.
If you want to add to the list, if you want to let people with fewer consecutive days posting than those 3,000, you should be asking that the list be increased to 5,000 names, or 10,000 names, or however many you think appropriate. But as long as the "leaders" continue to post on consecutive days, the names won't change and the length of consecutive days will change. Unless you increase the size of the list, or you say "we shouldn't include those people because they've been on the list too long" and disregard their consecutive days of participation.
(Edited to reflect that PD posted between the time I started typing and my posting.)

Consecutive leaders board is made up of the top 4000 users and their consecutive days. Like you, many others have streaks of records going and until they miss a day they won't fall back. Keep at it- you'll continue to improve against other members as people fall off the leaderboard.
